Some History

The majority of my career in social work has been working with families and children.
Initially, I was a social worker for a local foster care social service agency in Brooklyn New York. I went on to work with developmentally disabled adults as a client advocate and later managed a residential facility for adults with chronic mental illnesses. I worked for an international adoption agency specializing in Russian and Ukrainian adoptions as a social worker and international. Seeing a need for more personalized service I began my private adoption practice.

In addition to domestic adoptions my families have adopted from China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Korea, Vietnam, Guatemala, Colombia, Ukraine, Brazil, Poland, Jamaica and Liberia. As an adoption practitioner and specialist I keep abreast of emerging trends and current information. My services include pre-adoption counseling (often concerning issues of ambivalence and decision-making), consultations about adoption options, home studies, post-adoption counseling, and post-placement reports for domestic and international adopters. I have developed a sub-specialty in working with non-traditional adoptive families (single parents, gay and lesbian, step-parent adoptions). I have done home studies for adoptive parents of various ages, diverse races and ethnicity, and varied educational, economic, social and marital backgrounds. All international home studies are conducted through the local adoption agencies that I am affiliated with as required by US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Domestic home studies can be converted to agency home studies or international home studies when applicable.
